Maybe when things have calmed down I can make a non-bullet-point post.

  • Part of my divorce involved my cashing in my 401k at a significant loss in order to pay off some combined debts. Three weeks ago. HAHAHAHAHAHAAA!

  • As karmic punishment for my gloating, I guess, the director of Sweeney Todd asked me last night to speak the intro to "Ladies In Their Sensitivities" ("Excuse me my lord may I request my lord..."). So (against my own instincts) I did my best Rex Harrison. Afterward she told me that she didn't want me speaking the words in rhythm, but to just deliver them as if they were lines, with musical underscoring. So tonight (SERIOUSLY AGAINST MY OWN INSTINCTS) I'll do my best Bill Shatner. We open in a week! Y'all come!

  • There is a seekrit place where you can see book tour dates for John Hodgman's forthcoming More Information Than You Require. He'll be in Oxford MS, Thursday, November 20! Since the venue is the Lyric Theatre, I'm also assuming Coulton will be there--this time I'm bringing the good brandy.

  • The one-year anniversary party for Chatterbox Audio Theater is this weekend at the Center for Southern Folklore. Should be a good time.

  • Changing the locks tomorrow morning.

If you do the Shatner, please, please post about it.

Did you know that one of the first Hollywood wireless microphones was designed so that Rex could do My Fair Lady? His sing/speak thing didn't mesh well with the record-later thing that was popular at the time.

I did not know that!

Massive suck about the 401k.

Massive awesome about the Rex Harrison and the Shatner.

Massive, massive, massive loser suck that the Hodg isn't coming within 1,000 miles of me.

Lastly, much empathetic "oof" on the lock changes.
