Fried pie
Before he opened his own restaurant, Isaac Hayes used to claim that A&R Barbecue was his favorite barbecue place. The sandwich here is a sloppy, drippy mess, and will get barbecue sauce all over you, from ear to ear and in your eyebrows. It's delicious, but really goes against the entire concept of a sandwich (the concept of a sandwich being that you're using bread in order to keep from eating peanut butter and jelly with your fingers). In any case, Isaac Hayes' restaurant went out of business here and he can go back to loving A&R.

This is the fried pie, sitting next to a 20 oz drink for size comparison. As you can see, it's huge, and wrapped in paper instead of plastic, so it's not getting all squishy on you. What you can't see is that if you get there for lunch, the pie has been cooked at most an hour earlier, so it's still warm, and the filling hasn't soaked into the crust, so it's still crispy and flaky, with big chunks of apples just firm enough to give a little resistance.

Werewolf Moon
This morning as I pulled into the parking lot at work (an hour earlier than normal, because I've got to get out of here for rehearsal at 3:30, where I'll sit around for an hour) I spotted the moon peeking through the clouds that have covered the area for the last four days. I thought it would make a nice picture, and so it does, although you've really got to see one of the larger sizes to for it to look like more than three lights.

Maybe, I spoke too soon...Don't feel much like eating now that I see the remains of the fried pie chef. Poor fellow.

I bet you'd appreciate Ponza Rottas from Jimmy's Grotto.

Ponza Rottas = deep-fried calzone

When we decide to go the takeout route, they're still crispy on the outside after a half hour drive to our house.

So good. So artery clogging good.

The moon picture is great, I'm hoping to take a couple of good moon pictures this weekend. The forecast is currently calling for partly cloudy skies.

Very nice moon pic! We had a similar-looking moon here last night, shining through similar clouds. Very nice night for admiring it. The moon is currently at perigee, so it's actually slightly larger than average right now (14% bigger and 30% brighter, according to spaceweather.com).

I bet your sister could make that into a nice painting.

The moon, I mean.

And I'll take about 5 of those pies, thank you.
