being a Child of the 70s(TM) my parents had Fogelberg by the score, and I remember one of the happier songs we danced around the living room to was Part of the Plan and the first half of the chorus has always stuck in my head because the words said to me that if you stick to that philosophy (love when you can, cry when you have to, be who you must) your life will be as happy as the dancing you do to the song.
