New Joerb!
Aug. 1st, 2005 07:53 pmToday I began a career change at another company across town, makin' more money, usin' fewer hours, havin' more free time to post LiveJournal entries. Or at least that's the idea.
Engineers in Memphis are kinda a circular lot, especially in my specific field. Change enough jobs and eventually you'll be working with someone you worked with in a past life. For instance, today I discovered that one of my new coworkers worked with me nearly seven years and two companies ago (this is two companies for me. Probably fourteen companies for him, for reasons forthcoming).
When I worked with him in the past, this fellow was notorious for two things: Not actually doing any work, and spending half the day on the telephone looking for another job. When I mentioned that I knew the guy, the second-in-command at my new job asked how he's worked out two jobs ago, and I pretty much told him that he wasn't up to scratch. And apparently still isn't, based on the response I got from the new boss.
Guess some things never change.
