Well, SOMEone's gotta be a smart ass...
Apr. 21st, 2006 10:21 amFiddler opens in two weeks, and last night I received the last of my blocking--tomorrow we're supposed to be off book, which shouldn't be too hard as I don't have many lines.
The director tends to want a full, solid performance from the get-go--probably a function of unfamiliarity with the cast, or maybe just his style--and I lean towards building my performance in levels, the first level being remembering where I'm supposed to go.
To that end, last night when he asked "why are you going over there?" I told him that he'd told me to go there not two minutes previous. That answer really makes directors mad. This being the play it is, I should have answered "Tradition!"
p.s. Mark your calendars! At noon (U.S. central time) on May 5 (probably) we'll be on the radio for the WKNO Friday Live Lunch. They have streaming audio, so everyone can listen in. Note--we're actually recording this bit on May 2, so it's not really "live." I'll post an address closer to the date.
