Let me entertain me.
Jun. 21st, 2006 11:32 amCats at Theatre Memphis has been a rousing financial success. Between a number of high-profile sponsors (Suntrust, FedEx) footing most of the bill and near sellouts every night (430 seats at $20-30 = $8600-$12,900 a night x 18 shows = a good 200 g's less the fog and confetti bill).
A couple of nights a week, I'm seeing as much of the show as you can see from the orchestra pit, where I'm beefing up the manly sound of the cats who all seem to be altos. Tonight, however, I have redeemed my comp ticket to sit front row center--Angela (who's playing Electra (?)) tells me that I might get a lap dance from The Rum Tum Tugger. I told her I'd wear my light-up Elvis jumpsuit, which the cats at home just love. I'm also likely to get a faceful of confetti.
Friday night we're going to opening night of Urinetown at Playhouse on the Square. I'm sitting in the fourth row there, so I'm hoping I can avoid getting a faceful of anything.
