Yesterday I went to the Fresh Market for a Cuban Wrap and some chicken corn chowder for lunch (in other news, the Fresh Market now serves hot soup, instead of just soup to warm up yourself), and noticed that the Bed Bath and Beyond across the street was having a storewide clearance. I won't make the overdone "beyond" joke, but I will note that I bought a Gibson Student Model acoustic guitar for $55, after all the discounts.

So, tell me about this Joan. Is she stacked?

Tuning the guitar for the first time this morning, I snapped the high E string. Fortunately, they were nice enough to include a replacement set, and now I can try to learn to play Code Monkey.

After work I met Amy at Jim n Nicks where we ate too much, and then had pie (chocolate cream, coconut cream, and one bite of lemon icebox because they brought it instead of coconut cream the first time) afterwards. For a chain restaurant it's excellent, and for a barbecue restaurant it's very expensive--but that's the price you pay for eating pie that didn't come from a box.

When dinner was finished and we could barely move, we headed to midtown to see opening night of The Wild Party (the Lippa version, for those of you who know what I'm talking about). It was quite good, although there were a couple of balance issues where the orchestra overpowered the singers occasionally (that should be fixed easily enough in the sound booth--everyone was mic'd--although they could still turn down the volume on the keyboard a hair).
