Mrs. Cwabs called this afternoon to tell me that the musical director for Jerry Springer, The Opera had asked me to send in my scheduling conflicts. Thanks to the five month delay between auditioning and that phone call, there's no way I'll be able to do it without the cancellation of The Taming of The Shrew, where I'm already committed for August and September. I'm still not sure how Mrs. Cwabs can manage to do both--but she says she has it worked out. It probably makes a difference that Petruchio has two and a half times the lines of Kate.
You know, a whole lot of this jumping-through-hoops nonsense could be eliminated if folks would just sit down and talk honestly about decision making. I've tossed the rehearsal calender for Springer, and I don't yet have an official breakdown on Shrew, so it'll take a couple of days to even come up with realistic dates, so that they can determine for themselves that I'm unavailable.
Still, nice to be in demand, even if it's as a mid-season replacement.
