I guess the street view crew got mugged in Memphis, but they got Mobile--they missed my parents current home, but took a nice (overcast shot of my childhood home. My bedroom was the one just to the right of the main entry door, and [livejournal.com profile] bigbrownhound's was to the right of that. It looks like the new owners have ripped out the flowerbeds over the past ten or so years, but the oak tree that we'd climb still looks pretty healthy.

The shot of my parents' house has my dad out front. You can tell it's him. On one hand, the part of me that likes shiny things is saying "OMG GOOGLE IS MY MASTER NOW".

The part that gives money to the EFF, however, wants to build a big dome over my apartment and buy a shotgun just in case.

If I'm mowing the lawn or something and I spot a Google mapper making the rounds, I'm totally dropping trou.

Although the TeleAtlas mapping vans were here months and months ago, and no Street View has yet appeared.

Umm, I can't get a street view of my current apartment building *or* our old house, but satellite shows a car in the driveway of the latter. Weird. Eerie.

Yeah, they ripped down that picket fence that Mom put up, too. That came down right after they sold the house. The only part that's left is the little area between the house and Mrs. Banker's old house. The grass looks about the same. I suppose it never recovered from the salting.

The tree does look inviting doesn't it?

My street hasn't been mapped yet, but HWY 92 has, so you can see the entrance to my neighborhood.

Of course, Atlanta has been done, so you can see the theatre as well as the shop.

Whee!

Woah. I may have found the house I lived in until I was 8 years old, in Queens. I only remember the street name, not the address, but I scrolled up and down the street and I think I found it. That's kinda eerie. Wow. I'm gonna have to ask my parents what the exact address was, find out if I'm right.

I thought I could find my late grandmother's house, but only a tiny bit of New Haven, CT has been done so far.

Hey look, the observatory where I work! Taken before the construction next door started, but *after* they cut down the trees, so I was able to line up with the gap and zoom in to see it.
