[Poll #1348831]

I'd noticed that I'd been using the "aprostophe d" construction to the point where I'd never use "hadn't" or "wouldn't." Is this just a personal affectation?

Would you say "I hadn't noticed" or "I'd not noticed" as a contraction for "I had not noticed"?

I.e., would you contract "I had" or "had not"?

Thanks. I was all hung up on what this had to do with the poll:

When the contractions are ten minutes apart, head to the hospital

I see what he was doing there now.

Well, this certainly explains why I'd not received any Valentines. Clearly I'm a freak of nature.

You forgot "Why would I give a shit about that?"

And this reminds me of the only time I ever laughed at Bevis and Butthead. Bevis imagined himself to be pregnant, and mistook intestinal pain for labor pains. "CONTRAPTIONS! CONTRAPTIONS!"

I'm the only person I know who has the habit of using 2 apostrophes in the same word. I'd've said it before only you'd've thought I was dumb.

I do that occasionally.

I also do that. As far as the poll, I voted both, but I lean more toward "I hadn't noticed". I like "I'd not noticed" and the like becuase it sounds more formal, and it gives a certain interesting flair when used judiciously.
