It's a mystery!
Jul. 7th, 2007 04:52 pmFriday morning I was stuck in the FedEx ground facility in Knoxville, waiting for them to finish loading the trucks for the day so I could unlock their motor control center for and take some pictures. They told me they'd be finished by 8:30, but we were still sitting there at nearly 10 waiting for them to get all their packages loaded up.
As we were getting ready to take our pictures, a single FedEx ground truck pulled into the warehouse, and they started offloading pallets of identical boxes, marked "Walgreen's Best Seller Program. To be displayed on 3' by 2' table." (or close to that. I took a picture, but the camera's still in the car, and I'm too lazy to go get it at the moment.)
Hmm. Walgreen's isn't really a literary destination, so I'm wondering what sort of bestseller could justify pallets and pallets of identical books?
(If I hadn't been surrounded by FedEx employees, I might actually know the answer to this question, and I might be posting this from jail somewhere.)
