Thanks to Al Gore winning the Nobel Peach Prize, this evening I'll probably have to endure some tirade lifted verbatim from Rush Limbaugh or Ann Coulter on how Global Warming is a trick perpetuated on the masses, that it's part of the normal planetary cycle and we can't do anything about it, etc.

As the person most likely to tell me these things is a papist, I'll then have to excommunicate him for going against the pope, who, at least on this issue, agrees with Gore.

My workplace is full of Republicans!

I've never brought up politics here due to the exclusivity of Bush/Cheney bumper stickers in the parking lot. But I had to mention to our Ops Guy today about Gore winning the Nobel Prize.

"It was a terrible movie," he said. "Full of bad facts."

I'm pretty sure he actually said "bad facts."

I suppose the irony of someone citing "bad facts" in a movie entitled An Inconvenient Truth would be lost on him.

Why Colbert hasn't done "An Inconvenient Truthiness" yet is beyond me.

What do you want to bet they'll all bring up the fact that Nobel invented dynamite and thus its legitimacy as a "peace prize" has always been in question and also that Al Gore is a LIBERAL POOPYHEAD so of course he won something wimpy and girly like a PEACE PRIZE whereas a real Refucklican manly man man man man would win something BEEFY and totally HETERO like the WAR PRIZE for WAR AND GUNS.

I think I'm going to expand that reply into an actual post. You can skip over it if you like, since you've already got the gist of it.

You might want to include that Gore knows a little something about war, too, having mysteriously not gone AWOL or 4-F during Vietnam, unlike any number of Republican Manly Men.

Pfft. These are Republican talking points we're talking about here. Vietnam is only important if you're discussing John Kerry. And besides, Al cares about the environment, and you can't get more wussy weepy touchy-feely than that. Caring about the planet more than, say, NASCAR = teh ghey.

And here I thought soliciting undercover police officers in airport mens rooms = teh ghey. Come to find out it's Al Gore and the Pope.

Whoa! Hi!

d00d, not only do you have an excellent user name, you also share political stances with me!

You are hereby friended!

Thanks! Welcome to the echo chamber!

Well, I shouldn't say that; I'd like to think I evaluate differing political opinions based on their individual merits, but frankly, the level of most of the discourse coming from the Right just makes me want to put on my stompy boots and get all strangle-y.

In any case, you have also been friended. And thanks kindly for the compliment.

Ah, but have you won the Nobel Peach Prize? The Scandinavians are notoriously picky about their peaches.
