  • Amazon had Sam & Max, Season 1 for a cool twenty bucks, so I picked up a copy in the midst of my Christmas shopping. It's money well-spent, if only for the location of the Nixon-Agnew '68 bumper sticker.
  • This weekend there are auditions for Anything Goes and Twelve Angry Men, neither of which I'm really dying to do. (Not completely true: I'd love to do Twelve Angry Men, but that particular theatre's last production brought "poorly-attended" to new and exciting heights, and I can read a play to myself in an empty room without the time or petrol commitment).
  • I'm working on an adaptation of Cory Doctorow's "I, Robot" for Chatterbox (thanks, Creative Commons), and trying desperately to avoid internal monologue. This makes having a pile of non-functioning robots the subject of pretty lame dialog: "What's that?" "Oh, a pile of non-functioning robots." I already have the cop arguing with people who aren't there, but since I do that every single day, I figure it's okay, even if it's a little Mary Sue. Nevertheless, it's slow going, and going to require quite a bit of tightening to give the finished piece some decent pacing.
  • There's reportedly an authentic hole-in-the-wall tacqueria very near work, called Taco Loco, that I'm itching to try, but a little hesitant, as my Spanish is just this side of nonexistent, and I'd rather ease into the experience, rather than ordering the tripe and entrails tacos the first time out. Anyone have suggestions about what to order?

Carne Asada is seasoned steak, Carnitas is pork. Both are good.

Chances are there's someone there that speaks english. I have yet to go to a hole-in-the-wall Mexican restaurant and not had someone at least understand what I was saying, and I live in SoCal. And yes, I've been to more than one. :P

I'm familiar with those two, but when you get suadero, lengua, barbacoa, and tripas thrown into the mix, the unseasoned adventurer might be in for a surprise, as they're not also on the menu at Casa De Basket of Chips and Salsa, as well.

Well now, you seem quite fluent in various food types. Why are you hesitant? Just order what you know, and if it's good, then try something else next time. It never hurts to ask if you don't know. The worst you'll get is a polite smile and a puzzled look.

Before you accuse me of being fluent in food types, remember that everyone can be smart on the internet, although most people choose not to be.

In any case--the lunch report is up separately. Check it out!
