An invitation to sign up for a new service just arrived in my inbox:

It doesn't state whether people in the program get to bring delicious beverages, pointy things, or shoes onto planes. Also, do you get a full refund if it takes more than four minutes to get through security? Shouldn't my attempts to circumvent security by using a special service put me on some sort of watchlist? Does my $100 annual fee pay for special concierge screeners?

Oh, and also why the hell would I sign up for a service that wouldn't be necessary if TSA screeners could do their job right in the first place?

This is a beautiful example of planned obsolescence.
