Since I'm soliciting opinions instead of actually posting, what would be the best sauce to go with the package of Trader Joe's Spaghetti Lunghi (it's two feet long!) that I picked up last weekend in Atlanta? I make a pretty good bolognese by throwing meat, tomatoes, onions, and spices in the oven all afternoon, and the more "tossed" saucing alternatives (carbonara, alfredo, salsiccia e olio) seem ill-fit to such long pasta.

bolognese sounds delish.

I do a pretty good faux-carbonara (bacon, butter, green onion, cheese), and have been known to make an excellent actual carbonara (pancetta w/ grease, egg, cheese, black pepper like you wouldn't believe), but those work best with tagliatelle and linguini/bucatini respectively. The bolognese is actually best with penne rigate.

As a non-foodie who likes to cook, I really like Newman's Own Vodka Sauce. Seriously. It kicks ass.

Of course, you probably want to make it yourself, so I can't really help you there.

My question to you is why is there not Newman's Own Vodka? Also, don't they revoke your St Louis citizenship if you don't use Charlie Gitto's or something else from the Hill?

Because Newman don't share the good stuff, that's why. He has to fill up all those wrinkles with something.

Fun fact, I don't actually live in St. Louis proper but am located within the vast suburban parabola of the STL Metro Area. It's impossible for the them to monitor our sauce purchases this far into the Outer Rim Territories. It's not so bad out here, really, it's just tha--shit! Rylocks! Gotta go! *ptchuuu ptchuuuuuuu*

The blood of the innocent.

Or spinach.

Why not the blood of the innocent AND spinach? Two tastes that taste great together! Also, I hear the innocent are really anemic, so the iron in spinach is helpful.
