Suggestion for an evening's diversion:
Apr. 2nd, 2006 10:43 amShould you be in Memphis sometime between now and next Thursday (unless they get extended again), and wish to get out to the cinema, might I suggest catching Divine Manipulation of the Threads at Studio on the Square? It does not feature Sharon Stone, but instead features a number of local actor-types in a film that's unequal parts Ocean's Eleven, Clerks, and Reservoir Dogs. Oh, and my sense of humor when I was in the sixth grade--let's not forget that.
THIS NEXT PARAGRAPH PROBABLY CONTAINS SPOILERS FOR INSIDE MAN, A SPIKE LEE JOINT.
Your heist-flick alternative, Inside Man, is also a good film, but none of those bank robbers dress like Hunter S. Thompson. Also, DMOTT has no goody-two-shoes morality; while they double cross one another like all dishonorable thieves, they're still bank robbers at heart. This film also does not feature Denzel Washington on a Segway.
THE NEXT PARAGRAPH CONTAINS NO SPOILERS
Um, good film. Entertaining. Occasionally stupid, but in a good way. Check it out.
