Then, they closed by playing "King Tut."
Nov. 9th, 2006 03:32 pmThis weekend we have auditions for Musical of Musicals, the Musical and Picasso at The Lapin Agile at Theatre Memphis. At the present time I have no idea what to sing for my audition piece, although they didn't specify a length so I'm tempted to go with "In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida" or "Alice's Restaurant."
Oh, that's a lie--the production manager told me it would be a good idea to work up 16 bars worth of several different songs and have them all available for instantaneous singing. Which will make this the weirdest audition ever.
At least Picasso should be fun--I tried to get into it when they opened it at Playhouse On The Square several years back (in fact, I'd tried to stage it myself, but couldn't get the rights, so I ended up doing True West instead), but they cast it using their permanent (or semi-permanent) company members and a painting of sheep that split apart to reveal Les Demoiselles D'Avignon, whereas now they'd probably do it with Powerpoint (I was going to crossfade slide projectors).
Advice and support are appreciated, as always. No, I don't have an arrow-through-the-head and white suit for auditions.
