Last night I was flipping channels and came across the "Karaoke On Demand" channel, which got added when Time-Warner sold out to Comcast. We had about ten minutes before Good Eats came on, and there were a number of duets available, so we sang "If I Had A Million Dollars" badly and "Endless Love" operatically. It was more interesting than most television, and the only awful singing I had to endure was my own.
Afterward, Alton Brown added tomatoes (supermarket tomatoes, no less) to gumbo AND left out the okra, which made it a gumbo-esque soup. I'm not a nutritional anthropologist, but I'm relatively sure that gumbo owes more to its African roots than it does to the cuisine of Provence. Sorry Alton, you just lost a cool point.
