The little cwab took the ACT a couple of weeks ago, and received her scores today. She's justifiably pleased with herself--especially for someone who's just finished their sophomore year of high school.
The hard part comes next: convincing her that she should attend a school whose education will match her potential, instead of the University of Memphis (affectionately known around these parts as "Tiger High"). She could easily gain admission into a number of pretty good schools within a few hours drive (should she want to stay relatively close): Tulane, Washington U, Vanderbilt. It might end up costing us more, but right now her chosen career path ends with "teaching high school" at best and "waiting tables" at worst.
Perhaps we'll take a little detour to see Tulane when we head to Mobile next weekend--to my knowledge, she's only seen one top-tier school in her life, and I don't think she was paying attention.
