Since everyone likes posts about food,
Apr. 4th, 2008 08:10 amYesterday I'd gotten a note from a local person on Twitter that there were TeleAtlas vehicles at the Doubletree in Memphis, presumably so that we'd have entries on Google Street View eventually and I can show you all sorts of interesting dive bars and barbecue shacks and what have you. It's been raining all week, however, so I don't know how much Street Viewing the TeleAtlas guys are doing. The local guy told me that they were probably having a steak at Cal's Championship Steakhouse (John Calipari's side venture), or cupcakes.
Cupcakes? I thought. Wait, there is a new bakery that just opened recently... what was the name? A little searching got me the name: Muddy's Bake Shop, featuring things like carrot cake cupcakes and chocolate cupcakes with buttercream icing. I decided to pick up a dozen for the guys at The Underpants.
They only had lemon and chocolate cakes, with various icings, but damn. Seriously, damn. And I don't even particularly care for cupcakes--they usually taste like Zingers or something else that reads more like a chemistry experiment than delicious cake, so I feel no lust for them. One of my castmates remarked that it was probably the best cupcake he'd ever had, and I have to concur. Light, moist, chocolatey, with the perfect proportion of cake-to-icing, and a clean finish.
I also took a picture of a TeleAtlas van, up on my Flickr site (they've blocked Flickr at work, and while I can work around it, I don't have the time to do so at the moment--I'll edit this when I'm somewhere with less restricted access).
