November State of The Cwabs
Nov. 6th, 2008 04:01 pmNo vast number of changes, but let's establish what may be a good policy by doing two months in a row:
Home:
Still big, still pretty empty, still mostly out in the sticks. Slightly cleaner than it was last month. Still in need of some significant repairs and landscaping. I noticed this morning that due to the balmy-ish weather, the grass is still growing. Also onions. I want to make a flower bed of tulips for spring--we'll see if I can do that in the next few weeks.
Work:
Could use a variation on doing As-Built drawings. Signed up to bring dressing to the company Thanksgiving potluck. Scheduled some vacation time.
Relationships:
Divorce papers got filed this morning, and Marital Dissolution Agreement was signed and notarized today. Barring unforseen something, my divorce hearing will be December 10. Need to have some folks over for dinner as impetus to do some cleaning and moving of furniture.
Biofamily:
Got an accidental phone call from screamy sister at neices soccer game. Will be heading to Mobile for Thanksgiving.
Mental State:
Reading actual divorce papers for the first time felt like euthanizing a beloved pet. December 10 will probably sting as well, but we need to be divorced by the end of the year, or I get to pay the marriage penalty come tax time.
Physical State:
Finally got back to the gym on election night for the first time in months, probably. Planning on going again tonight for a bit. Still wildly overweight, but workin' on it again. Got a post-Sweeney haircut, which makes me look like Astro-Boy right now.
Projects:
Auditioning for Violet Hour this weekend (unlikely) and The Play's The Thing next weekend (possibly). Later this month there are auditions for Into The Woods but the lack of announcements to that effect would seem to indicate that they're not open to the public.
Recipe Blog in stasis, Barbecue Map & Blog making no progress, but I'll eat a sandwich sometime soon. Laid claim to fancycwabs name at blogger and wordpress, but nothing significant at either location.
Theatre calendar probably needs to be updated with auditions for Cats once those are announced.
Still on Twitter, Facebook, Flickr, YouTube, Vimeo, LibraryThing, LinkedIn, FriendFeed, Google Reader, Spore, countless others. While I hate the use of "friend" as a verb, anyone's welcome to friend away. VERY worried that I might take up WoW again in, like, a week.
Still no offline writing project.
Pets:
Sascha had become more friendly now that she realizes I'm the only human in the house. I took a shower last night because of the haircut and the itchyness factor and skipping the normal morning shower routine made Dexter and Red very confused. Celeste still isn't spending much lap time.
Self-Amuse:
Books: About a third of the way through John Hodgman's More Information Than You Require, although I should have finished it by now. Still not reading Anathem and Oscar Wao.
Television: Watched season 2 of 30 Rock on DVD, watching Season 3 on Hulu as they come around. Need to finish season 1 of Mad Men. Still no actual televisions in the house.
Movies: With the possible exception of Zach and Miri Make A Porno nothing I'm particularly interested in has hit Memphis theaters (I'm looking at you, distributors of Synecdoche, NY). Drove to Oxford on Monday to see The Animation Show 4 which wasn't as entertaining as The Animation Show 3, but still a fine diversion.
Podcasts: You Look Nice Today, The Sound of Young America, This American Life, Paul & Storm Talk About Some Stuff For Five to Ten Minutes (on average), Wired's Alt-Text--The Video Podcast, and a couple of recent episodes of Fresh Air when they had Tina Fey and Charlie Kaufman on.
Music: Not a note. But I did subscribe to the Amazon MP3 Twitter feed, which has some ridiculously cheap DRM-free MP3 albums every day.
Games: Kingdom of Loathing, Episode 2 of Penny Arcade Adventures, which will be replayed eventually. Again, considering taking up WoW again when the expansion comes out.
Okay, so the crime-fighting thing was an outright lie.
