Arrived at Beijing
Dec. 9th, 2006 02:49 amWoke up at the hotel in Wuxi on Friday and before hopping the can to our subcontractors, wandered for a few minutes on the grounds of our hotel, which is a resort on the lake, and is quite serene. There was a guy practicing Tai Chi beside the lake, but I didn't get a decent picture of him.

Our subcontractor's office headquarters is also on the lake, and is basically a couple of buildings arranged in a garden.

After this, we rode the van to Shanghai, then fought over who had to pay the driver for a while. After checking in, a couple of us to see everything that's going down in Old Town, and to buy crap. I got a new Go set and a bunch of Christmas presents that I'm not going to describe here,

Afterwards, we headed back to the hotel and had dinner at a lovely and crowded Italian place called Di Marco's, where champagne, campari, salad, fettuccine alla carbonara, pear tart, coffee, and two shots of grappa set me back almost $25, which is the nice thing about Shanghai.

Then this morning, we caught the plane to Beijing, and I must make a note of the crabs available in the airport snack shop,

And the important instructions on the airline safety card.

Whoops. That one must have escaped!
Many more pictures are on the flickr site, incidentally.
