Being a tourist

You know that scene in Lost in Translation were Bill Murray has too much sichuan food and distilled rice wine liquor and ends up puking his guts out at 3am? I can closely identify with that scene. Even if it's not in the movie.

Then at 7 we hopped a really cold bus to the Great Wall, and passed the construction of what appeared to be Beijing Disneyland on the way. Upon arrival at the Great Wall, we were mobbed by local vendors trying to sell up hats and gloves, which we desperately needed as it was ridiculously cold weather to be climbing around in.

From there, we headed to lunch, where I limited my consumption to bland fried rice and two spoons of hot and sour soup, due to the aforementioned incident where I'd surrendered the contents of my stomach.

Afterwards, we went to Tienanmen Square and The Forbidden City, which are both amazing. The Forbidden City was undergoing an extensive facelift in preparation for the 2008 Olympics, so it probably wasn't as amazing as it could have been, but still.

Then we came back to the hotel, and I uploaded a ton of photos to Flickr.

I really love the two tree pictures from the forbidden city. The food "on display" is entertaining. I like the dragon trash recepticals. I want one. Thanks for the message from the Great Wall, that was neet-o. I was out being an artist until 2:AM, crazy!
