Resolutions

In 2007:

I will lose weight.

I will be more loquacious around my wife.

I will not let insignificant things get to me.

I will not mention cockroaches at all in comments to snowy_owlet's livejournal entries.

I will make friends more easily, and come off as less of a grump.

I will get some sort of exercise every day.

I will try something from every plate at the turntable restaurants in China, unless I'm sick, or I've had it already and it's particularly nasty (note: century eggs, while absolutely disgusting-looking, aren't that bad).

I will post more often to the recipe blog.

I will use the word "actually" less often.

I will write something other than a livejournal and a recipe blog.

Yesterday I had duck tongues at a dim sum place in London.

They had little bones in.

That was always the best thing about eating in China. All these delicacies of entrails and fish skin and cartilage and roasted bones, and someone, somewhere, is eating the parts of the animal that aren't delicacies, and got to have bacon instead of a plate full of snouts. I envy that person.

A lot of those bits can be pretty good though, although chicken feet don't do it for me. At another dim sum place last week, I had tripe with ginger and spring onions which was fantastic.

The point with all of these things is the texture, not the taste.

Having different textures in my mouth is what sex is for, not lunch. While I ate the (cold, rubbery, and mostly flavorless) tripe as it came around, I can safely say I prefer it in hot dog form.
